About Pam Schur

I believe everyone can benefit from counseling because we all have various times in our life when we need someone to listen, support and validate our feelings. Often we can be so close to an issue or concern, and another perspective opens a new window to our world. As a clinician, I work to create a warm, supportive, safe space for my clients to talk, reflect and process their emotions. I understand it takes courage to seek counseling and takes time to build trust.

My practice focuses on individual counseling and couples counseling with the goal of empowering clients to reach their desired potential. Clients frequently present with anxiety, depression, stress,  grief and loss, relationship issues, parenting concerns, and career/life transitions. As a collaborative clinician, I tailor my therapy to best address the needs of each individual client. I use an integrated approach with an emphasis on cognitive-behavioral, psychoanalytical and solution-focused methods.

I received my Master Degree in Counseling from National Louis University. My professional experience includes Urban Balance and OMNI Youth Services, and I worked as a grief/loss group facilitator at Willow House. As a career changer myself, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. I currently achieved my certification as a Certified Grief Counselor (CG-C) from The American Academy of Grief Counseling.

Professional associations include the American Counseling Association (ACA), Illinois Counseling Association (ICA), Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association (IMHCA), and I’ve earned recognition as a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

I know therapy takes courage and commitment, and truly believe it’s never too late to change the course of your journey. If you feel like you are needing to be seen and heard, please reach out.
